Wolfgang Meier, the many who single-handedly kept the morale of the British Forces of the Rhine going for several decades.
I've seen full Battlegroups exercises be delayed because the troops were still queuing for his Brattie and chips.
Always patient, always there, always supplying the goods.
RIP Wolfgang, never forgotten

Rest in Peace Wolfgang. As a young soldier new to Germany, it was amazing to see this blue van whereever we ended up on Soltau. How did you know????
The currywurst and sneaky "yellow handbag" were always a massive morale boost.
This ex soldier has never forgotten the tales of you 38 years later and you are forever etched in my memories and so you'll live on.
Sleep well you legend! Fly free.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Wolfgangs family.

Ruhe in Frieden Wolfgang. Du wirst für immer in unseren Herzen bleiben und wir werden Dich sehr vermissen.
It was sad news to hear about the passing of Wolfgang. I’d like to pass my condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Wolfgang was the bringer of a little bit of happiness to tens of thousands of British Soldiers with his blue van. He was such a big part of life for us all who served in Germany.
Rest in Peace Wolfgang. You will remain in all our hearts forever and will be sorely missed.

Wolfgang always brought joy on grim days on Soltau training area and made our days happier. He was a big part of our lives in Germany back before the Wall came down. He will be greatly missed but lives on in our thoughts and prayers.

Wolfgang war immer da. Eine Legende, der irgendwie wusste, , wo wir waren. Ehemaliger Britischer Offizier. RIP

RIP Wolfgang, your van was always warmly welcomed in all weathers. If I ever needed to know where a unit was, you would point me in the right direction.

Wolfy without doubt one of the most admired men in Germany, to us British troops.
Rain or shine Wolfy would turn up bearing gifts a plenty. Once remember it was around minus 16, and he turns up with hot drinks.
Legend no, he was a hero, that sadly was never recognised for the services he gave to the British Soldiers stationed there.
Take care Wolfy, the old boys are waiting for you up there.
Goodnight old friend

The word 'Legend' is often overused. Not in this case, Requiescat In Pace, Wolfgang Meier 🫡

It is with deep sadness that I read about the passing of Herr Wolfgang Meier. I offer my sincere condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.
He occupied a truly unique place in the hearts of every single soldier who served with the British Army of the Rhine. The ringing of the bell heralded the arrival of the famous blue truck, there were plenty of times times we truly felt he'd been sent from heaven; and the shout went out 'Bratties, Pommes Mit Beer Bitte'!
Wolfgang rapidly became a legend amongst the troops, and that remains true to this day, and forever more!
Rest In Peace, you were a friend to all! You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!
